Meeting the spring in Wroclaw

Last year by this time a volcano in Island, by a name that forced the news anchors all over the world to attend language evening classes, grounded the air traffic. When booking my flight I don’t even reflect on potential interference of nature. We forget so quickly.

This year I managed to get to Wroclaw (Poland) and took part in a Volvo Bus workshop on quality and environmental management. All the responsible Volvo Bus leaders from all over the world, from Hosakote in India in the east to Mexico City in the west, met to benchmark and develop our culture that safeguard our core values quality and environment.

All our production facilities now have common management systems for quality (ISO 9001) and environment (ISO 14001). We apply the same standards and the gradual improvement is conducted in parallel all over the world. A chassis produced for example in our factory in Curitiba in Brazil in 2011 is subjected to the same production principles as a bus produced in Wroclaw. The same goes for the environmental improvement. For example we apply the same challenges on energy savings and reduction of green house gases to all our facilities simultaneously.

When peeking into the production facilities, hybrid buses now run through the production in ever increasing numbers. How many 7700 Hybrids in this picture? (7 should be visible.)

Our consistent progress to improve in parallel has secured a leading position for Volvo Buses. We are very proud and grateful for the positive feed-back we get all over the World: Sweden, United Kingdom, Poland, India, Brazil, Mexico or China, no doubt the Volvo Buses are regarded as the leading bench mark that don’t compromise. We refuse to accept that some markets should be less ready for quality and environmental improvements than other.

The historical city of Wroclaw showed its best side sunny and 15-20 degrees C. The spring arrived and during the five days I spent in Wroclaw, the leafs of the hazel and the crocus bloom.

The dwarfs lurk behind the entrance to the restaurants in the agent city centre of the friendly town of Wroclaw .
