“The Swedes implements hybrid technology consistently for Euro VI. The conventional diesel offers retire by the end of 2013 by Volvo Bus. For the Volvo 7900 City Buses all buses will be equipped with hybrid technology”.
This was the headline and beginning of one column in the exhibition magazine at the international show on transportation in Hannover (IAA).
“The decision is consequent” some journalists remarked. “Considering the increasing oil prices and the Volvo hybrid success during the last few years.”
Volvo 7900 Hybrid aims for the largest bus segment in Europe, the low floor city bus. It is the light weight high efficiency follower of the Volvo 7700 Hybrid that was introduced in 2010. Sales have three folded every year since 2009 and the official 1000 mark will be passed in the next few weeks.
Possibly this success was contributing to the visit by Dr. Ramsauer, the Federal Minister of Transports in Germany.
